Relationships with employers builds opportunities in communities

To provide this experience for customers, WISE Employment prides itself on forming mutually beneficial relationships with businesses in communities to create new employment opportunities for applicants.

These partnerships offer WISE customers the opportunity to thrive in their own neighbourhood and build new relationships.

One of these valued community partners is Maughan Thiem located in Mount Barker, South Australia. An Adelaide household name, the family-owned business began operating as a car dealership in 1912, and now spans 11 dealerships across South Australia.

WISE Employment Business Manager Horacio Toledo emphasises that building these relationships is integral to providing sustainable employment for customers.

“For many, and particularly those who have been out of work for some time, the prospect of finding a new position is daunting, so we look for ways to make this as seamless as possible,” he says.

“Offering employment within businesses that we have built these relationships with means that the applicant can feel more comfortable when applying for the job. They’re run by familiar faces and are serving familiar people.”

“Maughan Thiem is a brilliant success story of how these partnerships can positively impact the community, and a great example of a business that cares about their employees,” says Horacio.

Maughan Thiem currently employs five customers from WISE across their dealerships in Adelaide, with the business offering more than employment opportunities as part of the partnership.

“We’ve had many success stories from customers who work at Maughan Thiem. WISE customer Robert had spent an extended period of time looking for work due to a severely painful shoulder injury, but this year he celebrated a 12-month milestone of employment – what a wonderful achievement!” says Horacio.Maughan Thiems Dealer Principal Aaron Rush says the partnership with WISE is just as important to him as it is to the customers.

“Horacio has connected us with brilliant people who we’re now proud to call part of our team,” says Aaron.

“With 11 dealerships across the state, our business is growing and often looking for new staff. Building a relationship with WISE and Horacio means that he understands the business and what we’re looking for in employees.”

Having now been partners for three years, assisting in employing numerous Adelaide locals and even co-sponsoring the Woodville West Torrens Football Club team, WISE and Maughan Thiem will continue to support the Adelaide community through employment and beyond.
