School Leaver Employment Supports

(SLES)

If you have been approved to access SLES (School Leaver Employment Supports) through your NDIS funding, WISE Employment’s SLES could help you transition from school to work. Assistance includes tailored capacity building supports to increase your skills to help you find a job, navigate apprenticeships, and explore and apply for job vacancies.

Leaving the safety of a school environment can be scary, but with WISE Employment’s NDIS support services, we can help you build the skills and confidence to find and maintain your perfect job.

Our passionate and experienced staff will provide a fun, safe and relaxed environment where you can build your confidence and get ready to enter the workforce.

Are you eligible for SLES?

To be eligible for SLES, you need to be a year 12 student who has School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) as part of your NDIS plan. School Leaver Employment Supports can help you transition from school to employment. WISE Employment currently offers SLES in Victoria and Tasmania, and can support SLES participants outside of these areas remotely.

If you are not a year-12 student, but still need assistance preparing for work, finding work and maintaining work, we can assist you through other funding in your NDIS plan.

How does SLES help me find work?

Our School Leaver Employment Supports are tailored to meet your individual employment goals. This may include:

  • Work experience in open employment
  • Job skills training
  • Travel training
  • Enrolling in study
  • Volunteering
  • Counseling
  • Resume writing and interview skills
  • Group skills

The SLES will provide the job skills and confidence needed to find and maintain employment.

When you are ready to apply for work, we will continue to support you with interview practice and tailoring your resume so it stands out from the crowd. We can also help you to find work experience in open employment to add to your credentials and give you an extra edge in the application process. We will support you through the interview process and into accepting your new role!

Once you have a job offer, we can continue to provide support with things like uniforms, travel logistics and on the job support. If you need us to, we can attend your first day alongside you to orientate you with your new workplace and colleagues, and will continue to check in with you as much or as little as you need us to.
