The GradWISE Selfie* Survey is based on Nobel-winning research, and will give you the opportunity to think about how you would act in certain situations. At the end of the survey, you will receive a short profile highlighting some aspects of your personality and the broad type of work that might best suit you. This is the first step in creating your career roadmap and will help you highlight some of your strengths to showcase on your resume.
You are requested to provide your name and email address before starting the survey, so that WISE Employment is able to follow up and provide you with your full profile report should you want it.

GradWISE is a new program, developed by WISE Employment in conjunction with Swinburne University. The program is designed to empower tertiary students living with a disability, mental, physical health condition or injury aspire, develop and thrive in graduate and entry level employment.
GradWISE draws on WISE Employment’s more than 25 years of experience in delivering employment services. Over this time, we have helped over 100,000 job seekers into work from all walks of life, across all industries and occupations, who have been unemployed for as little a day, or for many years.
Competition for graduate and entry level roles can be quite intense, often around 30:1. GradWISE aims to complement your studies, and arm you with a portfolio of skills, knowledge and experiences that will enable you to compete for your big break once your studies are complete.
At the moment, GradWISE is a pilot program running out of Swinburne University. If you are a full or part-time student, on campus or online at Swinburne, and identify as living with a disability, mental or physical illness or injury, then you might be eligible for our services!
The program is open to you, no matter what year of your study you are in, and no matter what course of study you are pursuing.

The program can be split into four key components:
During stage one, we will work with you to assess your strengths and possible areas of development, as well as creating a unique profile to understand the types of work best suited to you, and your qualifications.
We work alongside you to create a coaching and development road map which might include things like part time, casual or temporary work, internships, mentoring programs or extracurricular involvement such as Volunteering, Micro-credentialing or learning/mastering a second language are all options designed to make you even more competitive in your study to work transition.
We will help you search for, interview and land your dream graduate role. We also support both you and your new employer through any training, workplace modifications and ongoing support requirements within your new workplace.
We continue to provide support for as long as you need, tracking milestones and helping you stay on your chosen career path.
Combining the strengths of both partners, the primary aim of the program is to provide eligible students identified as living with a disability, mental or physical health condition or injury with access to additional specialist assistance on campus. The program aims to obtain employment opportunities for students commensurate with their aspirations and qualifications.
The Swinburne Careers Hub will provide full access to SwinEmploy, a purpose-built suite of resources and tools to prepare graduates for the world of work. In addition, the Swinburne Accessibility Services team, if registered, provides supports or reasonable adjustment for your time at university and will help you navigate through your studies and aid in your successful course completion.
GradWISE will provide customised coaching and supports in complement to SwinEmploy in one on one, small group and online settings. A large part of GradWISE’s role is understanding employer needs and assisting them with their diversity ambitions whilst providing support to both the employee and employer once a successful match is made and for as long as needed.

GradWISE’s foundational expertise and understanding of employer needs also leverages new developments in Neuroscience aimed to optimise your brain and body’s capacity to learn, change and be your personal best.
The term is known as Neuroplasticity, the brain’s ability to change over the course of one’s life. Optimising brain and body performance requires practice and presents material opportunities to make gains in how we learn, earn and live an enriched life.
As part of the GradWISE program, expect to get to know yourself, through a series of fast and fun assessments that seek to highlight your strengths and lay out a roadmap for personal growth, allowing you to develop the skills, knowledge, experiences employers really want and to be more competitive for graduate employment once your studies are complete.
Employers share commonality in the hard and soft skills they want from graduates i.e.: technical skills, academic achievement, research and problem solving capability, work experience and extracurricular activities.
The “so called” soft attributes relate to communication and interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence and leadership ability which can be more difficult to develop than technical skills because interactions and collaboration with other people at work (customers, colleagues, bosses, staff, suppliers and key stakeholders) can be at times extremely demanding and difficult. In addition, employers often seek to hire a person whose values are compatible with their organisation to ensure that you’ll be a cultural fit. Understanding yourself, your values and your strengths can help evidence your values alignment and cultural fit.
Digital skills are heavily in demand, and are more than having the skills to code (although very handy to know) it is also about being curious, questioning, building knowledge, leveraging technology, being creative, original and being agile towards change.
Possessing digital skills, an approach of lifelong learning and maximising your brain and body’s performance is a good bet for a thriving work life – whatever the field.
