WISE Employment back on board to sponsor AFL Victoria’s FIDA Football League Metro Conference 2020.
For the third year running, WISE Employment is proud to continue sponsoring the AFL Victoria’s FIDA (Football Integration Development Association) Football League Metro Conference in 2020, governed by AFL Victoria.
Entering their 30th year, The Victorian FIDA Football League continues to provide Victorians who have an intellectual disability the opportunity to participate in Australian Rules Football at a competitive level. The league is open to all players 14 years and over who have an intellectual disability and hosts four metropolitan divisions and two regional conferences across Victoria each year.
The partnership encourages people with a disability to be involved in the Australian Football community, along with assisting players in finding employment across Victoria. This success was demonstrated by former WISE job seeker Steve Odgers who secured his dream role with AFL Victoria in 2018.
AFL Disability Action Plan Manager, Scott Nicholas, says the partnership reflects more than the opportunity to play AFL.
“In 2020 we’ll be celebrating the 30th year or the Victorian FIDA Football League, and to have WISE on board for another year is the perfect reflection of how far the program has come.”
Nicholas says; “The additional support we’re able to provide to participants through the work of partners such as WISE highlights how FIDA is much more than a football competition, it’s an opportunity for people to develop themselves both on and off the field.”
WISE Employment Chief Executive Officer, Matthew Lambelle, believes the shared values and goals between the Victorian FIDA Football League and WISE Employment makes the partnership a success.
“Fostering a strong community in a safe, inclusive environment is a goal WISE strives for everyday to ensure all jobseekers feel empowered. We’re proud to enter in to the third year of partnership with the Victorian FIDA Football League as this synergy has been proven year after year. All the best to both the players and the supporters for the 2020 season.”
